What we collect
Nothing to use the comparisons. You can browse every category, use every calculator and compare products without an account, a name or an email address.
If you request a quote we collect the name, phone number, email (optional), parish and message you type in, so a provider or licensed insurance broker can contact you. You choose to send this; we never pre-fill it.
If you subscribe to rate alerts we keep the email address you give us until you unsubscribe.
Usage statistics. We count page views and visits so we can report our audience honestly. To tell a returning visitor from a new one we set one cookie (cj_v) holding a random number for 12 months; it contains nothing about you and is never shared. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook pixels or any third-party advertising trackers. If you arrive from a partner such as a chamber of commerce, a second cookie (cj_ref) records that partner's code for 30 days so we can credit them.
What we do with it
- Quote requests are passed to the provider you chose or a licensed partner who can quote the product, and to no one else.
- Alert emails go only to the address you gave. Every email has an unsubscribe link; replying "stop" also works.
- Aggregate statistics (totals, never individuals) are published at /advertise.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your details.
- Run a credit check or contact a provider on your behalf without your request.
- Store card numbers, TRN, ID numbers or bank details — the site never asks for them.
The app
The CompareJA app on Google Play and on your home screen is this website in an app wrapper. It requests no device permissions (no location, contacts, camera, microphone or storage), and it collects exactly what the website collects, described above.
Keeping and deleting data
Quote requests are kept for 12 months then deleted. Alert subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. To have anything removed sooner, email westcomjamaica@gmail.com from the address concerned, or call 876-799-7300, and it is deleted within 7 days.
Your rights
Under Jamaica's Data Protection Act 2020 you may ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its use. Requests go to the contact above.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new effective date.
