What your job costs the employer
How it is worked out
- NIS 3% of gross, on earnings up to J$5,000,000 a year.
- Pension — contributions to an approved scheme (up to 20% of salary) come off before tax.
- Education Tax 2.25% of gross less NIS and pension. Not deductible for income tax.
- NHT 2% of gross — refundable to you after eight years (see the NHT refund guide).
- Income tax 25% of statutory income (gross − NIS − pension) above the J$1,799,376 annual threshold, and 30% on the part above J$6,000,000. Pensioners and people 65+ get extra exemptions.
